Identify the existing colors in your room – and the color of any metal accents. This will typically be your palette. Try to stick to 3 main colors at most. Occasionally, if you have a monochromatic color scheme (1 basic color), you might use a floor lamp to introduce another color. Choosing a metal such as silver, brass, gold, bronze is also a good option. If your walls are white – you may want to consider using a lampshade that is a little darker so that there is some contrast to the wall.
There are many floor lamps out there, ranging from simple to very modern ones with lots of extra features. When you are selecting a floor light, make sure you pay attention to its size, materials used to make, lampshade and style. Some corner light for living room have multiple bulbs, others are designed to be adjusted to different directions while others can increase the amount of light.
