The Annapolis Bicycle Racing Team (ABRT) is one of the top-ranked amateur cycling teams in the United States. USA Cycling, the governing body of bicycle racing in this country, selected ABRT as their “Club of the Year” in 1996, 1997, 1998 and 2003. ABRT has also won the Mid-Atlantic Bicycle Racing Association Best All Around Team 11 years in a row, 12 years total. Our team has over 100 regular members ranging in age from 14 to 62 years old with abilities ranging from novice to elite level.

The LWV program is built on a strong team oriented model, something that is often missing from amateur-level competitive cycling today. More experienced riders share their knowledge with less experienced team members. In addition to racing, members are encouraged to be active in the club and assist in the club’s operations and projects.

Towards the development of individual members, LWV provides the following benefits:

• Organized group training rides and the opportunity to find training partners. A detailed annual training plan which can be tailored to a member’s individual abilities and goals.
• Coaching in physical training, cycling skills, and racing tactics and strategy.
• Financial support in the form of equipment discounts from sponsors and reimbursement for selected race fees and travel.

On July 11th, 12,000 Spectators and 700 cyclists will descend on the streets of downtown San Rafael creating a new style of bike racing in California.

The Festival surrounding the event includes the always-popular Kids Course Ride, hosted by Pacific Sun, as well as an Expo and Pro Athlete Village. Involvement from the local restaurants and bars, and music from top DJ’s all create a unique experience enhanced by the excietment of bike racing.

The high speed action of night time criterium racing is unparalleled in the world of spectator appeal and action sports.

ABOUT THE FESTIVAL

Filmed by Bike is a festival of bike-themed independent short movies from around the world. Submissions are limited to eight minutes and must revolve around the central theme of cycling.

Hundreds of international entries are submitted but only an average of 30 make the final cut. Our jury of esteemed judges makes that tough decision.

The festival is held every April in Portland, Oregon at the Clinton Street Theater.  For more information on this year’s festival, see the Program Page.

Every year the festival features a fresh selection of exciting, creative films that are eight minutes or under. Sure, we like those movies of messengers riding like daredevils in-and-out of NYC traffic, smacking taxi butts and skidding in style, but Filmed by Bike is about so much more than that.

An advanced and mature society is one that recognizes, nurtures, revels in and celebrates it’s creative class, it’s art and culture.  Here in Portland, our bike culture is beyond the basics and we are wholely embracing our place in society as more than just bikers.  We revel in bringing together movies from around the world for festival that celebrates bike culture.

Entries are evaluated by an esteemed jury of bicycle and film enthusiasts from the Portland-Seattle area.  Our jury page details this year’s roster.
